Islamic Awareness
Pray 5 times a day. Fast during Ramadan. Done Hajj in 2008 and Umrah in 2013. I wasn't always a practising Muslim myself so appreciate that it is a journey for everyone and I have a balanced approach to Islam and am more like a revert in my approach.

In my own words

Hoping to offer

A chilled out best friend for life.

Sadly my father passed away a few years ago. It was one of my dad's wishes to see me get married but Qadar Allah it was not meant to be. It has however made me more determined to honour his wish and get married insha 'Allah. For this reason I would be grateful that if you are genuinely interested then please do get in touch rather than send me messages that just say "Hi" etc.

On the whole I'm down to earth, easygoing and calm. I know it sounds cliched. but I'm genuinely kind, caring, sincere, loyal and understanding, have a good sense of humour and a good listener. Also very easy to get along with. I'm highly creative and produce beautiful Islamic artwork. I have a balanced approach to Islam as well as a balance of east/west cultures. I don't smoke or drink. I like to spend time with friends and family especially my niece who means the world to me. I don't judge others who may not be at the same level or also not as practising as everyone takes the journey at their own pace.

also have a strong social conscience and strong sense of social justice. I can and do cook (I won't be winning Master Chef any time soon but you won't have to have your stomach pumped in casualty afterwards either... ). And in a big let down to the rest of the male species I also wash and iron my own clothes... I also went on Hajj for the first time in 2008 and would definitely like to go again.

The drop down menu list my job as admin but is more than that. I'm basically a Project Manager (For our Islamic Cultural Fayre which we get 10,000 people coming every year). Cultural Awareness Officer (delivering cultural awareness training/presentations on Islam to schools, churches, police. Fire service, councils and other bodies etc - even did one to ITV and the BBC!). Basically it's our way of tackling Islamphobia head on through education and
Al Hamdulllah we get good results. Also engage local media often in terms of Radio and TV and end up local Radio BBC quite often. I was even asked to be on the Big Questions once...but at last minute decided not to speak...

SOME RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME:

In 2014 was I was selected as a "Happiness Champion" for Bristol as one of the top 50 people in the city who make Bristol a happier place to live in!

I was also the first Muslim in the history of Bristol to give a sermon at the Lord Mayors 800 year old chapel! (The Mayor asked me to do it.)

Thanks to Allah I've personally had the pleasure of helping many people take shahadah when converting to / embracing Islam. I've sort of lost count but I'm probably at around the 35 mark now. I can not express how blessed I feel to have been able to do this.

Labour asked me stand as a councillor for them (Again the mayor asked me to do it)

I have a very bad sweet tooth. (I'm basically a chocaholic)

I've never taken a selfie...hate having pictures taken (bah humbug!)

I still haven't watched Frozen...but I've learnt to live with it and just let it go...let it go!

I make really nice Pizza from scratch.

What am I looking for?

I believe marriage is a partnership between two friends and am looking for a best friend for life as opposed to a wife for life.

I also value a persons personality, character and and imaan as well. Having said this and without sounding shallow I'm also a realist and two people obviously need to feel attraction towards each other as well, so looks come into the equation to a degree.

Someone warm, kind, patient understanding, friendly, down to earth with a sense of humour. In short a soulmate someone with a good heart.

I have no problem with someone who is divorced. However I would prefer someone who doesn't have children. (It's a big enough undertaking starting your own family for someone who is not married and a scarier one to take on a ready made family! Having children is something I would prefer to grow into and have as part of the natural course of a marriage).
